THRUSH!

Carly and I have thrush and we've had it for a while! I feel like such a bad mom! I don't know what I was thinking? I thought that her tongue just had the milky white color stained in it because she drinks SO much milk. I guess milk would wipe off though, wouldn't it... DAH! Then the black spots are another level of the thrush fungus on top of the white. ICKKK! I asked her doctor if this was a bad case of thrush and he said that it wasn't. Its not on her cheeks or anywhere else in her mouth. She also doesn't appear to be in pain. My nipples have been a little sore, but I just thought that was to be expected with breast feeding. I don't have any funny white sores or anything on my nipples and I haven't had a yeast infection either which all the websites talk about. She has little drops she will get 4 times a day after feeding and I have an over the counter cream that athletes use on their feet. I have to put the cream on my nipples after she eats and wipe it off right before she eats so it won't make her sick.
Another thing I asked the doctor about was a little rash I thought she had on her labia. Apparently its not a diaper rash. Its a birth mark!!! Crazy! The doctor said these can appear after six weeks anywhere on the body and it should go away by the time she's nine years old. I'm glad its going to go away.
CARLY WEIGHS 13 and a half pounds!!! She's such a big girl! I asked if I could be over feeding and the doctor said that you can't really over feed with breast milk. We're feeding her about 32oz a day which is exactly what the book babywise says is the correct amount.
Oh, and CARLY LAUGHED at the doctor! That's her 3rd laugh! I can't believe it. I asked the doctor, "Was that a laugh?" And he said, "Yes, she thought that was funny!"
She is getting so much personality. It is so fun!!! I love her so much. I'm excited that she's going to feel better and her mouth is going to clear up. Poor little thing!

I kiiiiinda suspected that might be what it was. Glad you got it checked out.
The good thing is you caught it and can deal with it now.
How sweet that she laughed at the doctor.
Glad it's not hurting either of you too much.

Baby laughs are the BEST!

Krista...you're a GREAT mom! Don't think because you didn't diagnose that yourself that you're not. If we could fix it all, doctors wouldn't be necessary! ;)
